Meet the Chaplains
This year , in response to our inspection report , we are extending our team to include pupils across the whole of Key Stage 2. They are a group of children who have shown a particular interest in developing their spiritual role in the school. They readily show a desire to help others, to make a difference, to be ready to listen to God’s word and help bring that word and the love of God to others. They enjoy participating in collective worship assemblies, often promoting Gospel Values through drama. They are also a charitable bunch, and they lead many of our charity campaigns in the school. Their work regulalry gets a mention on our CST page.
Miss Droba is our Chaplain Team Lead teacher and meets weekly with the team. So far this term they have led Gospel Assemblies, demonstrated a Child Led Prayer session at the Meet The HeadTeacher Meeting, helped to train children to lead Child Led Prayer, made the Harvest Invitation which went out to the community, written the intercessions for the Harvest Service in church, collected and distributed the Harvest donations and made video invitations to pupils in Lower Key Stage Two to invite them to join their team.
Next half term, they will be connecting with Chaplains from other Catholic Schools as we have Chaplain Pen Pal links . We hope this new initiative will enable them to share ideas and extend their influence beyond the school into the Catholic Community.
The Year 6 pupils will be working towards completing the Faith in Action Award targets this year , developing their spiritual lives as they earn their award.
Our 'Trainee Chaplains' from Year 3 and Year 4 have been doing a wonderful job of leading prayer in Key Stage One this half term. We are very much hoping they will accept the mission of becoming permanent School Chaplains in January.
Our Chaplains have made decorations and cards to raise money for Cafod and to give to the elderly and lonely in our local area this Advent.
There were so many Chaplains taking part in our Gospel Assembly this week that we could not fit them all at the front of the assembly ! Thank you all
for your never ending enthusiasm to lead and inspire.
On Friday 13th December , we announced the names of the Lower Key Stage Two pupils who will be joining our Chaplaincy Team next year . In January , to mark the start of The Year of Hope Jubillee Year , Mrs McDonnell will be welcoming the twenty two new chaplains to the team through our Door of Hope.
We have now welcomed another twenty-two chaplains to our team from Lower Key Stage Two. They were welcomed by Neil Peixoto after our Epiphany Assembly in school and walked through the Jubilee Door of Hope into their new role as leaders of faith in our school.
Our Chaplaincy Team Commissioning service is at 2pm on Thursday 6th February 2025 at St George's Catholic Church.
