Dear Parents and Carers,
Comic Relief – Red Nose Day
It was lovely to see a sea of red in our celebration assembly today as the children dressed up for Red Nose Day. As a community, you have raised an impressive £155 and I would like to thank you for your support and generosity.
Year 5 Kilve Assembly
A big well done to Miss Droba, Miss Aspden and the children in Year 5 who were very proud, and rightly so, after their wonderful class assembly on Wednesday. There was a wonderful turnout and
the feedback from staff and parents was absolutely glowing. It sounds like the children had an amazing time at Kilve and they did some very impressive writing about the excitement of the trip.
Pedestrian Safety
Please can we politely remind parents not to walk through the automated front gates (intended for motor vehicles) with their children. Road safety is an important and potentially life-saving skill for our pupils to learn and have role-modelled to them. We understand that it may feel relatively safe on our school grounds to walk through the gates, intended for cars, especially if there is no car coming. However, teaching children to cross the road in a safe place, and to use the footpath where there is one, is an important lesson. Children learn by example, and what we do when they are with us, is likely what they will do when they are without us! We need to reinforce safe practices for crossing the road from a young age when children are most impressionable. Thank you so much for your help in following our school safety rules, which are in place to keep our children safe, here on our school grounds, and hopefully in the wider community.
Miss Roberts
If you get the chance, do join us in saying farewell and good luck to the wonderful Miss Roberts, our Year 3 cover teacher, who is undertaking an exciting new chapter in the United States after the Easter break. Miss Roberts is very modest and is reluctant to make a fuss about her departure to America, but we could not let her go without saying a few words of praise for a wonderful colleague and a fantastic teacher.
Miss Roberts has been a wonderful addition to our team, and we have had the pleasure of watching her flourish since she joined us as a trainee teacher. Her inspirational teaching has had a positive impact on our pupils, and they have greatly benefitted from her dedication and passion. We are incredibly grateful for her contribution to St George's Catholic School and feel so lucky to have worked alongside her. There will always be a place for Miss Roberts here, and we thank her for her hard work and commitment to our school community. We wish her all the best in her new adventure across the pond!
We are pleased to confirm that Miss Droba will be teaching Year 3 for the Summer Term, until Mr Lake returns from his sabbatical in September.
I hope you have a lovely weekend with your families, and we look forward to seeing you on Monday!
Best wishes,
Edwina McDonnell
Headteacher
