Dear Parents and Carers,

MP Visit – Gideon Amos

We were delighted to welcome our local Member of Parliament, Gideon Amos, to school on Friday to speak to our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. The pupils questioned Mr Amos under the lens of equality and diversity linking to our Catholic Social Teaching values, and I was so proud of how the pupils conducted themselves. They were respectful, articulate representatives of our school and Gideon commented afterwards on how impressed he was by them, and how challenging their questions were! Well done to all involved and thank you to Mrs Earp for organising this wonderful experience for our Upper Key Stage 2 pupils.

Marian Processions

Our KS1 and KS2 Marian processions took place on Wednesday, and these were a wonderful success.

Year 6 End of KS2 SATs Treat

A very big thank you to our Year 6 parents who organised a delectable treat for our grateful Year 6 pupils who finished their SATs tests this week. The sun was shining on them as they enjoyed their ice-creams!

World Cultural Day - Thursday 21st May

On Thursday 21st May, we will be celebrating World Cultural Day to recognise and celebrate the diversity of our school community.

Pupils will take part in a range of activities in class, and we warmly invite children to wear clothing that reflects their culture, heritage or interests. This may include traditional dress, the colours of a country’s flag, or other meaningful items.

We would also love to welcome contributions from parents and carers, such as sharing a dance, a few words in a home language, or information about a home country. If you would like to be involved, please contact your child’s teacher.

Thank you for your support.

Behaviour at St George’s

We are incredibly proud of our pupils here at St George’s. Visitors regularly comment on the warm relationships between staff and pupils, the kindness shown within our community, and the purposeful atmosphere around the school.

Our behaviour expectations are rooted in our school values and are designed to ensure every child feels happy, supported and ready to learn. We believe that excellent behaviour is built through consistency, strong relationships and clear boundaries, alongside high levels of care and support for all pupils.

To help parents and carers understand our approach and the values that underpin it, please follow the link below to view our Relationships and Behaviour Policy on the school’s website. This outlines the routines, expectations and support systems that help us maintain a positive learning environment where all children can thrive.

As a staff team, we are pleased to work alongside our parents and carers to provide a supportive environment in which every child can flourish, and we thank you for your continued support in helping us uphold the high standards we value so greatly at St George’s.

Marian Mass at Church – Sunday 18th May

You are all warmly invited to our ‘family Mass’ on Sunday 17th May at St George’s Church, at 9.15am. This will be a Marian themed Mass in celebration of Our Lady, and the choir will lead the hymns alongside a number of our pupils, who will be delivering the readings.
