RSE Curriculum

RSE (Relationships and Sex Education)

RSE is now a statutory subject and at St George's School, we teach pupils an age appropriate curriculum in line with the values of the Catholic Church. This is designed to assist parents by: promoting a gradual understanding and healthy appreciation of self; of growth, of relationships with others; of emotions; love; marriage and family life. We use a scheme of work called ‘A Journey in Love’ which is approved by the Diocese of Clifton. We communicate with parents every year before teaching the RSE curriculum, sharing the materials used with them and we value any feedback given. We will offer parents the opportunity to view the resources ahead of the RSE lessons. For parents unable to attend these meetings we will make them available online. We undertook a consultation process with parents when we revised our RSE curriculum in line with current guidance in 2020.

PSHE
Alongside our RSE program, we are required to teach PSHE.
In PSHE, we use the SCARF scheme of work to allow children to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. These skills and attributes help pupils to stay healthy, safe, and prepare them for life and work in modern Britain.
