Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 6 Parents – Secondary School Applications
The deadline is fast approaching! Please click here to visit our school website for essential information related to the secondary school application for your child. The cut off for applications is 31st October 2025.
Attendance Matters
This week, we’re sharing our Attendance Matters information (see attached) to highlight just how important regular attendance is for your child’s learning and success. At St George’s, we believe that everyday counts, and last year our whole-school attendance was 95.5%.
This year, we’re aiming to build on that and reach our 97% attendance target across the school. Research shows that pupils who attend school regularly are more likely to make strong academic progress and build the confidence and resilience they need for future success. If you would like further information on attendance, please visit our school website to access our attendance policy, which details our attendance expectations and support. We truly value working in partnership with families to ensure all our pupils can thrive—and kindly remind parents to plan family holidays outside of term time so that children can benefit fully from every learning opportunity.
Youth Mass at St George’s
Our pupils have received a special invitation to attend the Youth Mass next week at St George’s Church from one of the event’s organisers, Jamella, a past pupil of our school. This Mass will take place on Wednesday, 29th October at 6.15pm. Please do show your support by attending if you can. It is a wonderful initiative to include our youngest parish members in the Church Community.
Remembrance Day – Poppy Appeal
We will begin collecting for the annual Poppy Appeal in the week after half-term. If your child would like to buy a poppy or purchase any of the other merchandise (see below) then please send a donation in and these will be sold in each class from Monday 3rd November, until Remembrance Day. Donations are gratefully received, and every poppy sold shows care for the lives of our Armed Forces Community. We will hold a 2-minute silence to mark Remembrance Day on Tuesday, 11th November.
Suggested Donations for the following:
Metal poppy pins £2:00 Snap poppy ruler £2:00 Wrist band £1:00
Reflective Poppy £0:50 Wrist ties £1.00 Paper Poppy £0.50
Please note – should we sell out, the above items can also be purchased online at the Poppy Shop. Thank you for your support.
