5th December 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Parkrun Opportunity

A reminder that St George’s parents and pupils are invited to support the Longrun Meadow Junior Parkrun on Sunday 7th December at 9.00am. A letter was emailed to parents which explains the event in more detail. We encourage all pupils, staff and families to attend and enjoy this positive community experience together.

You’re Invited! Festive Mince Pie and Tea/Coffee

Our Chaplains would cordially like to invite our parents to join us for tea or coffee with mince pies and chocolate yule log after Mass on Tuesday, 16th December. The Mass is at 9.30am and our Chaplains will host their coffee morning in the Busy Room after Church. We hope to see you there!

Christmas Lunch

Please can we remind parents to order Christmas Lunch online for our Christmas Jumper and Christmas Dinner Day on 18th December. There is still time to order hot dinners for the last week of term. The cutoff point for ordering hot lunches for next week has already passed, so if lunches have not been ordered, please remember to send pack lunches with your child next week. Thank you.

PSG Christmas Raffle – Christmassy Mufti Day

Next Friday, 12th December will be a Mufti day in exchange for donations towards the Christmas Raffle prizes. We are grateful for your support with this, as your contributions go towards making up our amazing raffle hampers. Staff and pupils should come to school on this day dressed in Christmassy colours, and may wear any Christmas accessories they have. Sparkles and sequins are very Christmassy too, so these are also fine. It will be lovely to see the staff and children all dressed up on this day.

Raffle tickets will go home with pupils next week, so please keep an eye out for these. Further information on the theme and what items/donations to send will be sent out directly by the Parent Support Group, so please watch out for this. Thank you in advance for your support, which is greatly appreciated.

Swimming

Due to staff illness, we have not been able to run our swimming sessions this week. Alongside this, we were also experiencing some issues with the temperature of the pool, which has now been resolved. We are grateful for your understanding in this matter. We expect the swimming timetable to resume as normal next week.

St George’s Christmas Performances

The coming two weeks will see lots of festivities in school. We thought it might be a good time to remind our parents of the upcoming performances and events that are available to them to attend.

EYFS and KS1

On Tuesday 9th, we will hold our Reception Class Nativity at 2.30pm for the parents of EYFS pupils.

On Wednesday 10th, the KS1 matinee Nativity performance will be at 2pm for our KS1 Parents.

On Thursday 11th, the evening performance of the KS1 Nativity is at 6pm.

KS2 and Whole School Events

Our End of Term Mass in Church will be at 9.30am on Tuesday 16th and all parents are welcome to attend.

We will hold our annual KS2 Carol Concert in St George’s Church at 2pm on Wednesday 17th and as usual, all are welcome to join us for this festive occasion. We invite pupils to wear a Santa hat alongside their uniform for this event. Parents, feel free to join in with this, too!

On Thursday 18th Dec – Christmas Dinner & Christmas Jumper Day.

Christmas Dinner Day

Our festive Christmas lunch will take place on Thursday 18th December and we are encouraging the children to wear a Christmas jumper if they have one.

We had intended to host a Christmas jumper swap. However, as no jumpers were donated to the school this has now been cancelled.

Christmas Attire – final week of term

In the final week, pupils may wear Santa hats all week if they so wish, from Monday to Friday.

On Monday, Thursday and Friday of this week, pupils may wear Christmas jumpers.

However on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th, as we will be going to Church for Mass and for the Carol Concert respectively, school uniform must be worn.

Thank you for your support in helping our pupils to represent our school smartly while in the local community.

I hope you have a cheerful, festive weekend with your families.

Best wishes,

Edwina McDonnell

Headteacher
