Dear Parents and Carers
Fantastic Summer Fete
We would like to offer a very big thank you to the wonderful members of our Parent Support Group who organised and ran a hugely successful Summer Fete today. On behalf of the staff, pupils and our wider school community, including parents, carers, grandparents and friends, we wish to express how grateful we are for your time and effort in pulling together a fantastic school event. The purpose of the Summer Fete is not only to raise funds for the school, but to offer a fun event that our pupils will enjoy, while bringing our school community together in teamwork and friendship.
So, to all who organised, set up, cleared away, ran a stall, attended, donated or supported the event in any way, we owe you a very big thank you and well done!
Year 6 Leavers’ Mass at Clifton Cathedral
The Year 6 pupils, along with the Year 6 staff, myself and Mrs Bradshaw, attended the Leavers’ Mass at Clifton Cathedral this week in Bristol. It was a poignant occasion, and you will be pleased to know that the Year 6 pupils represented St George’s to the highest standard with their exceptional behaviour. It is ‘one more step along the road’ in our Year 6 pupils’ journey to secondary school. As the school year seems to speed up in drawing to a close, we are minded to take time to reflect on the wonderful progress each child has made in their time here at St George’s. They are a much-loved group of children, and the staff are cherishing every moment of the time they have left with us.
Lockdown Drill
We held an information assembly this week ahead of our planned lockdown drill which will take place soon, as recommended by the Department for Education (DfE). A lockdown drill is a practice that helps us to ensure everyone in our school knows what to do to keep safe if there is ever an emergency where we need to stay inside the building. Please be reassured that we have explained the drill to the children in an age-appropriate and sensitive way, so they understand it is just a practice and there is no cause for alarm. We have shared with the children what they can expect, and answered any questions they had to provide reassurance.
We encourage you to talk to your child about the planned drill at home, and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are aware that some of our pupils require a more individualised approach and this has been taken into consideration by each class teacher and reviewed by our SENDco. As always, if you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Did You Know?
We have a dedicated page on our school website to inform parents of our safeguarding offer. On this page, you will find lots of useful information and support, for all your safeguarding needs. This can also be used ‘out of hours’ to assist you in reporting any concerns you may have. There are contact details, not only for our school, but for external, local supoort agencies, which you may find useful.
