Dear Parents and Carers,
This Week in School
This week, we held our Parent’s Evening appointments and it was lovely chatting to the teachers about the benefits of these taking place and how much they enjoy sharing children’s progress with parents. Thank you to all who came and we hope you found it a positive experience. I realised this morning that today, we have completed the first half of the academic year and I cannot believe how quickly it has flown by! Parents of children in Year 6, like myself, may be starting to feel the pang that comes from knowing our children are very close to finishing their primary school journeys and will soon be making the transition to secondary school. It is a reminder for all parents to cherish every moment, every smile of delight as they spot you on the playground at the end of the day, every achievement big and small, because time goes too quickly and our little ones soon grow up.
I hope you all enjoy a fantastic school break with your families and find some time to make memories together. I can whole-heartedly confirm that the staff and children have worked very hard this half-term and the break has been well-earned.
Road Safety Talks
Today, we had some road safety officers from Somerset Council come in to school to deliver a road safety talk to every class, at the appropriate age level. We were delighted to be able to offer this to children as it is such an important issue and we hope it will help them to take extra care in keeping safe while travelling, both in cars and as a pedestrian. Do chat to your child about what they learned.
World Book Day
This year, World Book Day will take place on Thursday 7th March. Mrs Carpenter, our school Literacy Lead, has sent further information home in book bags explaining the activities that will take place on the day, and how your child can get involved. Please take a note of the date and add it to your calendar so your child doesn’t miss out on the fun!
Ordering Hot Lunches
The office staff would like to remind parents and carers that the cut off day for ordering hot lunches for the following week is Wednesday. On occasions when you have forgotten to order hot lunches, it is essential that you provide packed lunches for your child the following week.
The cut off date for ordering hot lunches for the first week back after half-term is Wednesday 14th February. Thank you for your support with this.
Have You Paid Your Amenities/Swimming Contributions?
Please can I remind all parents and carers that each year, we ask for a voluntary contribution of
£10 per term per child for swimming, and £10 per term for each family for School Amenities.
The school has always traditionally asked parents and carers for an amenity contribution. The Amenities Fund allows the school to give children extra opportunities and experiences such as visiting artists, performers and sport companies. We feel it is crucial that the children continue to have these WOW moments and with the rising costs of funding school everts and maintaining and running the swimming pool, we would really appreciate your contribution to allow this to continue.
Payments for Swimming and Amenities can be paid online, details are as follows:
Bank Account Number: 02887152 Sort-Code: 30-98-45
Please quote reference S for Swimming and A for Amenities
Best wishes,
Edwina McDonnell
