28th June 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

Sports Day Photos – June 2024

Mr White has kindly added the KS1 and KS2 Sports Day photos to the Google Classroom under our new ‘St George’s Events’ page. If you would like to view these, please ensure you are logged into your child’s google classroom, and on the home page, click the +  button to add a new classroom. Then type in the following code: 53tuosj

Your child will then be a member of the group and can view the photos. The classroom is a private group for St George’s families only and we would ask that the photos are not shared or posted to social media. Thank you for your co-operation with this.

Car Parking Fines

There has been an increase in parents reporting to us that they have received a fine from the company that operates the parking cameras linked to the Church. As you know, the cameras are not in any way linked to the school, but we are saddened by our parents receiving fines and certainly do not wish for this to be the case. I have been in touch with the Church office, and it appears that there may be a problem with the camera that faces the bottom gate that leads into the car park. To avoid fines, we would suggest that when driving into the school via the bottom gate, you approach slowly and give the camera time to recognise your licence plate number. It is possible that when cars come right up behind each other, licence plates may be obscured, and fines may be issued. We would always ask that parents leave a good space between cars when using the one-way system and entering school grounds. In any case, there should never be more than one car entering the bottom gate at one time, as this would cause an obstruction to Nunsfield residents. Thank you for your support with this.

First Holy Communion – 2025

We would like to draw your attention to a notice in the Parish newsletter:

The Church will be holding a first meeting for parents and children this Saturday 29 June 2024 at 4pm in the Taunton Catholic Centre. Please register on the parish website.

This is for children who will be in Year 3 and upwards, from September. The link to register is as follows:

Summer Fete Saturday 6th July 11:00 AM – 2:30PM

Thank you for your generous donations of raffle prizes in every colour of the rainbow for our Summer Fete, judging by all the items received, the hampers are going to be impressive so don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets! A reminder that spare tickets are available from the school office, and we are selling tickets after Mass on Sunday aswell.

The Summer Fete is fast approaching! If there are any parents who can come into school next week to help organise all the donations of pre-owned school uniform and donated toys and books your help would be most welcome, so do get in touch with the school office or alternatively, you may see Elaine (Mia in Year 6’s Mum).

A reminder that any cake donations for sale on the cake stall can be left in the busy room on Friday 4th July. Also, I would like to remind everyone that there will be restricted car parking available on the day, as we do need to allow for access on and off the school premises for any unforeseen circumstances or emergencies that may occur, and your co-operation in this matter is very much appreciated.

A Message from Kate – Amelie (Year 2)  and Sophie’s Mum (Year 6)

In order to raise awareness of MND, in the light of the sad passing of Rob Burrow, Mrs Buck will be taking part in the Parkrun on her mobility scooter.
